The college was created to enable access to medical training in the region in three main ways: Create geographical proximity, affordability that allows fees to be paid in three installments per term, access to desired course as prescribed by the regulatory bodies. Currently, there are more than 30 approved TVETA training programs in the levels of craft, certificate and diploma courses. To enable access, the college has organized training into regular, evening, weekend and distance learning modes. These programs ensure the college taps into both form four leavers and the working class. The office of the dean ensures an active and rich student life incorporating student and staff counseling, career talks, motivational talks, soft skills training, clubs, games, CSR, spiritual growth etc. Headed by the registrar, the academic division delivers quality training combining both theory and practical and tapping into the various MOUs with different public and private hospitals. Upon graduation, the human resource department retains student’s data base for referral to job opportunities. The human resource department also organizes for talks concerning how to apply for abroad market jobs.
The campus center manager works together with all divisions to ensure the students joining the campuses are cared for in areas of academics and social wellbeing. Together, the commonwealth team strives for excellence in line with our mission, vision and core values.

History

In the earlier years, attaining an entry into any Medical Training College was a great challenge and people relied on their networks to gain entry into a desired program. Also the mean and cluster requirements for most courses were very high. The directors of Commonwealth College saw a gap in medical training in the region and desired to create a solution in the following ways
1. Creating financial access by allowing fees to be paid in three installments
2. Creating geographical access by establishing campuses around various communities
3. Considering only the minimum grade as set by the regulatory bodies
4. Assisting international students with passport processing and Equation.
